Turmeric with Black Pepper
Turmeric is not easily absorbed by our bodies as Curcumin is quickly metabolised by your liver. Black pepper contains a natural compound called piperine that has been shown to increase the absorption and bioavailability of curcumin by up to 2000%.
Turmeric also needs to be consumed with fat.
Curcumin is fat-soluble, meaning it needs to bind with fat to be absorbed into your body so it’s very important to consume turmeric with food. Most meals contain enough fat to take turmeric with but it wouldn’t be enough if you were to take it with something that had very little fat, like a banana (not that a banana dipped in turmeric would taste nice anyway, but hopefully you get the idea).
